Dr. Frenkel Obstetrician-Gynecologist

Electroneurodiagnostic medicine includes a variety of electrodiagnostic studies to establish diagnosis such as: motor neuron diseases, myopathies, radiculopathies, plexopathies, neuropathies, NMJ disorders (myasthenia gravis & myasthenic syndrome).

Electrodiagnostic studies are also useful when evaluating tumors involving extremities, spinal cord, and/or the peripheral nervous system, and in neurotrauma, low back pain & spondylosis, cervical & lumbosacral disc diseases, carpal tunnel and tarsal tunnel syndrome.

EDX - electrodiagnostic tests

Electroneurodiagnosis, as an extension of the neurologic examination, employs the same anatomic principles of localization, searching for evidence of motor and sensory compromise. Neurophysiologic studies supplement the clinical examination by providing additional precision, detail, and objectivity. They delineate a variety of pathologic changes that may otherwise escape detection and help examine atrophic, deeply situated, or paretic muscles, which tend to defy clinical evaluation. Specialized techniques provide means of isolating the neuromuscular junction and nerve segment for separate testing. Electical studies allow quantitative asessment of reflex amplitude and latencies as well as complex motor phenomena.

Individual tests can be used in evaluating different groups of overlapping neural circuits. Meaningful analysis of electrophysiologic findings, therefore, demands adequate knowledge of neuroanatomy. In addition, superficial anatomy of skeletal muscles and peripheral nerves is a prerequisite for accurate placement of recording and stimulating electodes.

Our electroneurodiagnostic center performs a variety of electroneurodiagnostic tests to assist in diagnosis and treatment of radiculopathy, neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, different peripheral nerve injuries.
